Of all the items we have sold the Aminco Bowman Series II is by far our favourite. This spectrofluorometer is a joy to service. Nearly all the chips are in sockets, making it easier to repair the circuit boards. These fluorometers were likely designed by a small team and with a reasonably small budget. There are few proprietary parts inside and we have already cross referenced the ones that are, such as the continuous wave Xenon lamp. The vast majority of the parts can be purchased "off the shelf". These spectrofluorometers were discontinued in 2005. As of June 2010 we have sold approximately 12-14 of them and we have not had to purchase any parts from Thermo Fisher(who bought American Instruments) other then the AB2 software. We believe that we can continue to repair and resell these instruments for many years to come.

It's a shame that there are not more of these Aminco Bowman II's on the used market and that there is not a larger market for them. If we could we would build a business solely around them.

If you already have one of these fluorometers we offer new continuous wave bulbs or we can rebuild your entire assembly and replace the lens and cooling fan. We have many parts in stock as well and we can also repair all of the circuit boards.

-The lamp fan is replaced

In addition we carry out several operations to improve the spectrofluorometer's performance and appearance.

-The monochromator slit alignment is calibrated
-The monochromator wavelength accuracy is calibrated
-Shutters are dry lubricated
-Beam focusing mirror is aligned
-Wavelength drive is lubricated
-Lamp power supply current is calibrated
-Lens spacer is focused
-Photomultiplier is realigned
-Optics are cleaned(minus the grating)
-Signal to noise is checked and samples are run
-Covers are sanded, filled and repainted
-The old anodized coatings are removed from the sample chamber and the chamber is re-coated.
